Does anyone have anything that they suggest for a compact media player aside from WMP?
My personal choice would be Winamp together with the MMD3 skin which docks at the top of the desktop, takes up very little space, and looks quite nice.

If you have a large library I’d recommend Mediamonkey – very powerful file management and compact player options to rival winamp. It’s free too – the gold versions give you a few extra, but essentially all you need is the basic version.
There’s also Foobar- but you need to be somewhat comfortable & have the time to fiddle) with scripts to be able to fully customise it.
Foobar, its kinda easy. When you want to switch, send me a message, i will describe what to do to make it a nice player for music.
VLC is very good, and quite compact in terms of resources and feature bloat. I find myself using it more and more instead of Windows Media Player.
I cant speak to newer versions of winamp. I stopped using it because it became a resource hog. It may be better now, but I would look elsewhere.
