Hi everyone,
I am old skool. I remember queues 5 people deep waiting in line to play Space Invaders!
So, anyone know where and how I can get access to old classics like Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender, etc to play on my new sammy.
Thank you and bye.
You will probably find web based freeware versions of these games via google. Other avenues to explore might be the arcade emulators, eg MAME. Once again Google will whisk you away to specialist sites on the subject.
As the ROMS for these games are often not public domain I’d prefer people only link to and discuss legit sources of such games. Hence the lack of direct links to the arcade emulators!
I have started collating a list of basic free games so keep an eye on the front page for news on that!
You could try Namco Museum 50th Anniversary.
It’s a release from Namco for windows xp.
It contains: Bosconian, Dig Dug, Dragon Spirit, Galaga, Galaxian, Mappy, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Man, Pole Position, Pole Position II, Rally-X, Rolling Thunder, Sky Kid, and Xevious. You can unlock Galaga ’88 and Pac-Mania by achieving some easily attainable scores on some of the other games.

Space Invaders Part II only had five digits to hold the score and the score started again at zero if it passed 99990. The original Space Invaders only had four digits to hold the score, but I don’t remember playing that one.
So, I remember being sad enough to ensure I was on the high score board by getting killed when my score reached 99990 – 🙂
Was there a Space Invaders version (in the arcade) where some of them slit into two when shot?
Don’t remember that one 😕
