with a few tweaks i got civ4 bts working very well and is playable too.
main menu:
in game:
tweaks:
in the .ini config file change the following options : from 0 to 600 and 0 to 1024; Custom Screen Height, minimum: 768 – Normal resolutions can be set in-game and will be used when set to 0
ScreenHeight = 600; Custom Screen Width, minimum: 1024 – Normal resolutions can be set in-game and will be used when set to 0
ScreenWidth = 1024then change the fullscreen mode from 1 to 0. after the game starts and you are at the main menu double click the window bar to make the game fill the whole screen.
December 1, 2008 at 7:31 pm #173156bobbyMemberit is important to note that unless you have upgraded your ram to 2gb it does get very slow when playing larger maps with multiple leaders.
i do recommend downgrading to civ 3 which is a far more enjoyable experiance. this was purely a test of how far i could push the nc10.December 1, 2008 at 8:08 pm #173154jezMemberI might even dig out my old CivII disc. I have happy memories of that game. I must have played it for 1000s of hours over the Summer holidays. Misspent youth ;)!
I guess it helps to learn all the keyboard shortcuts!
December 1, 2008 at 8:09 pm #173155BeckyMemberThanks for this, I was thinking of giving it a go sometime. Looks surprisingly good on such a small display.
BTW, I made your images a teeny bit smaller as they were stretching the message area ever so slightly. 🙂

thksMarch 2, 2009 at 7:29 pm #173160netmagMemberI didn’t find any .ini file in game folder.
Could you give the path and full name of the file?
thank youMarch 5, 2009 at 10:00 am #173159digglerMemberHi, I postet this elswhere in this forum, but as you asked for a CIV 3 solution here it is 😀
To play Civ III you need to block the intro-video, to do this you add the following lines to the ‘conquests.ini’
PlayIntro=0
NoAIPatrol=1
keepRes=1
VideoMode=1024(the conqest.ini is usuallly located at drive:sidmeier’s civilization iii completeconquestconquests.ini open it with notepad or any text-editor)
finally you’ll need to download astray ( can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?pgvsiydbmgk ) so you can change screen resolution to 1024 x 768. I suggest to keep aspect ratio (=downscaling off) otherwise perfomance will suffer and it also looks sort of squeezed. You will just need to get used to the up and down scrolling of the screen, for me this proved to be a minor challenge.
This workaround works flawless, we had hours of multiplayer fun with CIV III on netbooks already. The solution provided was tested on Samsung NC10 and eee pc 901, I have the Steam version. But it should work with any version of Civ III
Enjoy!

I was kind of hoping it’d be possible to run this on 800×600 but i dont even know if that’s possible on Civ3. I also keep getting errors on that program when i try to change resolutions, it tells me that it failed to change
