Is there a way to change the touchpad sensitivity and a separate setting for the mouse? I occasionally use the mouse but on and off I can’t use the mouse so I need to use the touchpad. I set the touchpad sensitivity to the highest but for the mouse, the highest is too high. I set it about 4 nothces to the left for the mouse. I don’t want to keep alternating the sensitivity because it’s a hassle. Is there a way I can set the touchpad to very high and mouse to 4 notches to the left so if I use either one it gives me the right sensitivity?
Seperate settings? Hmmm, I would guess if you configured sensitivity from the synaptics config page you might find it works independently of the mouse settings?
Check out some more touchpad tips here.
Does your mouse have it’s own software utility? My Logitech one does and it includes a setting for mouse sensitivity independent of the default option in Control Panel –> Mouse.
To compensate for the small touchpad, I find enabling the Momentum feature really useful. You should try it.

Does the software have to boot up every time the system boots or is it a control panel settings type of deal?
It does have to go in the startup if you want it to be effective all the time, yes. I still have a pretty speedy boot though and it doesn’t seem to hog the system or affect battery life negatively. That said, I can’t speak for non-Logitech software.
I finally got my mouse and tried it. But it seems like everytime I restart, the computer, the touchpad settings match the “mouse” settings, or the logitech setpoint settings.
I set the Pointer Speed on the Logitech setpoint app to 4 notches to the left and the sensitivity on the regular control panel to max. Is this what you meant or did I miss something?
EDIT: Okay I figured out the culprit. For anyone interested go to Start menu -> Run.. -> Msconfig -> Startup tab. Then disable KHALMNPR.EXE.
