MemberNC10 not being sold in Canada yet. Does anyone know if:
-It ever will be?
-When it might be?
-How much it might be sold for if it is sold in Canada?
-Somewhere that ships internationally that won’t cost me a tonne?November 22, 2008 at 3:11 pm #169973ztd
MemberOverclockers.co.uk is your best bet, or PurelyGadgets.com (the seller that Amazon uses). You would be much better off buying from the US though, I’d imagine.

MemberUnfortunately overclockers has just raised their prices!! So now they’re not actually that great.
Clove.co.uk still have it at 255 pounds +24 pounds shipping via couriers. If you email them about shipping to get them to use Royal air mail instead, you might be able to cut this down to ~12 pounds (maybe).
Cheapest option I can find at the moment 🙂

MemberI just was looking at Overclockers UK it’s still a decient price. I talked to Samsung support… they expect their entire Notebook (including NC10) lineup to launch in Canada in Q1 2009… but Q1 could mean right now if it’s based on their fiscal quarters, or Jan-Mar 2009 if on calander year. I want to wait due to conserns with warrenties and the nucience of needing a power adapter… but I really want my NC10 soon. But I was pricing overclockers UK, including DHL shipping to Canada, at just under $600 CDN… that’s even after adding 14% which I expect customs to add on when it comes across the boarder (GST+PST… as I’m in BC).

MemberThanks for the info, DjFIL.
I live in Canada and am also eager to get my hands on an NC10 (colour doesn’t really matter to me). I was originally going to have one shipped from the U.S., but like you, I also had concerns about warranty and post-purchase servicing.
How were you able to get that info from Samsung support? Did you phone or email them? I’m also wondering if there’s any email list I can subscribe to that will alert me of the Canada launch date… does such a thing exist?

MemberI emailed them. There wasn’t any offical form available for the laptop department, because it doesn’t exist yet… so I just emailed the other computer parts (monitors/etc) support, and asked them. And thankfully a day or two later answered with this result. Wish more detail was available from them. And they didn’t mention any mailing list or anything to get up-to-date details about launch.

MemberHere’s some details that we’ve been wating for. Expansys Canada now lists the NC10! White version is the only one listed, it’s your standard NC10 specs…. $674.99 CDN, expected to ship on December 19th. Now one note about the price, beside that it says (627.90 exc.)… but it doesn’t say excluding what? if that’s excluding VAT (which never applies to canada anyway)… or if that’s exclusing GST? i’m not sure.

The price is higher then I expected. I was hoping for the $550 range. NCIX.com has the 10″ MSI Wind w/ 6-cell, 80gb hdd and the US Keyboard (not the bilingual one we see most of the time in canada) for $529.99. I’m gonna wait until Janurary to make my decision… but if that is the CDN list price of the NC10, I might have to pass.

MemberThanks for the info DjFIL, I was looking to get an NC10 over the wind as well. I won’t have to decide until after christmas, but if it means 150$ (or more) extra, I’m going to be hesitant. =/

MemberI too will be waiting until Janurary or Feburary. There’s a few options I’m looking at. The NC10 is still the overall package that I want, but the price tag (if it’s still that once it hits multiple retailers) is $675 I might look at other options. As said the MSI Wind, everything else the same (1gb ram, 6cell, btooth, 10″ screen, etc) except only an 80gb hdd can be bought for $530… it’s one option high on my list. Or the LG X110, can get it for 499, and then later get a 3rd party 6-cell battery for 80 via ebay (includes shipping cost)… so that’s a competitive price (580, and i’d have a backup/spare battery), and the LG has a very nice keyboard too, and supposedly higher reslution screen (1024×756). Or last is the HP Mini 1000 at $520… but it’ll need to get a 6-cell battery upgrade before I purchase it, and a price/release for that hasn’t been announced. But I too have time to decide.
