I deleted the Windows 7 partition using Partition Magic and then have accidentally deleted the boot files.
I’m now stuck on a hanging screen and my recovery won’t work anymore. I’ve tried making a bootable USB but for some reason it doesn’t boot even though I used the HP tool.
What other way can I boot? Do I need to get an external CD drive?
Regards,
Try doing a clean install of XP Home as supplied on the Samsung Recovery Disk using an USB boot drive created using WinSetupFromUSB as explained in the following excellent guide:

You could also (I assume you are wanting to boot back into your original XP?) use the recovery console on the XP setup disc, and use the fixmbr command to restore the master boot record. You will need an external CD/DVD drive for this. (Although you may be still be able to access the recovery console using Jaynes solution above)
Cheers, for some reason my stick takes forever to boot from and it is more troublesome than I can be bothered anymore, so I got a DVD RW from PC World for £31 to plug in. Might have other uses as well, though I find CD pretty dead these days. Ah well, hopefully it’ll work, teach me for messing!
