Jonbad,
What do you do with your NC10 to get the lid full of finger prints all the time?
I just look at mine and seems fine. No a single one.
If the glossy LID bothers you so much you should have bought the white or waited for the blue.
By the way, you wouldn’t like to owe an Eee PC 1000H blac….hahaha….that thing is glossy all the way……outside and inside.
November 23, 2008 at 11:14 pm #168779Richard TMemberI don’t think the so called “finger print magnet” lid would put me off,i think the black looks far nicer and the white with the silver strip looks abit cheap,it suits the black though
November 23, 2008 at 11:26 pm #168775SerendipMemberBlue is my favorite color, and I really wanted to wait for the blue one. The glossy put me off a bit, I’d always be trying to wipe away the fingerprints. And then the waiting aspect… so I got the white.
I love the matte look! They SO made a mistake by not having the blue and black be matte. It has a bit of a pearl look to it… not stark white matte. NO FINGERPRINTS!
I thought I would hate the silver strip, but I don’t even see it. And when I do, it looks a bit like a thin silver ribbon around a white packaged present. (Can you tell I love this netbook? LOL!)
I think if I found out the blue one was actually matte, I’d be bothered.
Oh… and though I don’t know anything about them, I saw skins on ebay specifically for the NC10. Perhaps that would help, jonbad?

November 24, 2008 at 11:02 am #168754jonbadMemberThanks Serendip, I’d found the skins before – think there’s a link to some on ebay somewhere early on in this post actually.
Well, yes I can live with the glossy lid, I have lived with my Toshiba laptop for a little under a year now and that has an immense glossy lid (being 17″ laptop) so I can survive with this little netbook being glossy. The difference is that the toshibe doesn’t seem to stick to the finger prints like this netbook does – I’m not doing anything with it per se, just merely opening and closing the lid occasionally. I’m teaching myself to only hold it by the corners lol, but honestly it’s just an annoyance and in my opinion a bad piece of design. Something that is designed to be handled shouldn’t have a glossy surface on – this trend is out of hand and frankly daft from conception.
Anyways, not to worry! I still love this netbook to bits, I can’t quite get over just how little I paid for it and even if it was twice the price, the performance is still outstanding! I can live with the glossy lid in that frame of mind, but I am seriously tempted to mod it to a matte finish (in a professional way, not a haphazard DIY way).November 24, 2008 at 3:17 pm #168773BazMemberSlightly off to a tangent here, but has anyone (other than me) actually left the Lid and Screen protector films on. I’m so particular when it comes to looking after AV equipment generally. Wife says… I want wrapping up in a plastic bag ! lol. IMO… Black, like a new car in the showroom looks amazing ! but get it out on the road suddenly the wow factor disappears. I personally have the white, but got to admit I bought blind thinking the lid + inside would be gloss, which for me, matt is a disappointment. I’m just not to keen on the texture of the white. Basically its a very difficult choice ! P.S The brown AAO looks very smart BTW LOL
November 24, 2008 at 3:49 pm #168770RsaeireMemberI’ve left the plastic protector on the case on, as I’m awaiting a case for my NC10. Once I get my case, it will be coming off though. I still have the plastic protector on the inside of my Dell Inspiron 9400, so I hear you on keeping things nice and clean 😉
