MemberWhat is the best way to connect the NC10 to a TV to watch movies?
My TV does have a VGA-connector and a 3.5″ mm plug-in jack for audio. Should I just use a common VGA monitor cable and a 3.5″ mm audio cable or should I connect using RCA, Composite, S-Video etc?
What I’ve found is this:
VGA-cable
The site is in Swedish but there are pictures to show what kind of cable it is.
Please advice…

VGA is the best connection to use, out of those listed, as it offers much better quality and supports higher resolutions that the other connection methods you mentioned.The quality from worst to best is:
Composite => S-Video => VGA

MemberThank you, how about the audio then. Just use a regular 3.5mm cable or should I use something else like 3.5mm to RCA?/left/right?

MemberFreddy, the two cables you have listed are exactly what I use and it works very well. I have no idea if that is “the best” way of connecting though.

MemberVGA & mini jack ( as you have shown ) is the best option. BUT Make sure you get decent quality cables. cheep ones will work great until the cable fractures inside or the solder in the plugs cracks.

MemberExactly what I use too and get a great picture and sound.
The vga cable I use is actually one of the four off my KVM switch. Works a treat ! lol

Glad to hear everything’s working for you Freddy. What make and model of TV do you have and also what resolution have you managed over VGA?February 19, 2009 at 3:49 pm #184250Freddy
MemberI have some years old Pioneer Plasma, running 1024×768 @ 60Hz but I’m going to try 1024×768 @ 100Hz.
I think 1024×768 is the highest res. my TV can handle, i.e I cannot see 1080p but 720p should work.Update: Tried some more now and I can get up to 1280×768 @ 75Hz. 100Hz didn’t work.

MemberHi, I just posted to another thread not having seen this yet — so apologies! My question is, have you all found any audio interference/buzzing or when streaming via hulu etc., and video/audio lag time (i.e., video trailing audio) using the VGA and audio cables above?
Also, does anyone know of any good combined VGA/audio cables that don’t suffer from the audio interference/buzz problem?
Many thanks!
