I’m always torn between charging the battery early (around 30% remaining) or waiting until the battery warning pops up (10%) or later, or what would be better for the life of the battery?
I’m also going on the assumption that an all-night trickle-charge is preferable to the minimum 3-4hr charge it takes for the orange light to turn green.
Any thoughts?
There are several discussions on the same topic already 😉 You cannot select the type of charge – you plug it in, it charges. As to when, again, lots of debate on that. My feeling? When you can works for me… 😉

I’m assuming 3rd party batteries will become available in time (eBay perhaps?) so I’m trying not to worry about it too much…

There are already a bunch of batteries available. There is the oem 6 cell (well probably not samsung manufactured, but same essentially I imagine) as well as a 9 cell battery. That looks very nice although I don’t know the size/weight. There might also be the improved battery for the upcoming model – it’s a 6 cell but better capacity (or something along those lines as it is saying longer life).
Just remember not to buy a battery too early as it’s life starts ticking as soon as it’s manufactured…I just charge it overnight. Don’t see why not.
