I’m gonna be getting a NC10 for Christmas and getting a messenger bag would be nice. I am in college so having enough space to fit my sammy, notebook and maybe a book would be great.I know TimBuk can be pretty expensive, how much was it? Would you say its worth the price? TimBuk look really nice and great for what I need but I am not in the mood to spend $80+ on a messenger bag

I bought mine on clearance at a local outdoor store for $50 + tax. Best price I could find anywhere else was $64 + shipping on ebay. Timbuk2 bags are normallt quite expensive but IMHO well worth it for the quality. The padded compartment is very thick and very well padded. I don’t think you could get a full sized thick hardback textbook into the bag, it is a fairly small bag. You could get a composition pad in there with it. There are some interior pockets on the front side of the bag you can’t see in the pictures, a zippered pocket, pen/pencil holders, cell phone pocket, etc.

Memberhello! new to the forums with an even newer NC10 in blue. i also go the flimsy sleeve that came with my sammy, so i’ve been looking for a better one.
i finally found one that’s meant for the NC10 and doesn’t look cheesy, but it’s nowhere to be purchased other than the UK amazon:
this is a Cool Bananas faux-leather slipcase, and i would LOVE one of these. unfortunately, they’re out of stock on UK amazon! does anyone know where else to find one – or, if you’re willing, to sell me one? =)

MemberI got a Denali Sport Deluxe Bag (made for portable DVD players) at Target for $20. My Sammy fits perfectly, with plenty of padding, and a velcro strap to keep it in place. It also has a separate area for my mouse and other things I need to take with me. Also, with a little finessing of this bag, I can get it to lay flat, which means I can get my Sammy through security at the airport without having to take it out.
I found some pics of this bag on Flickr with an Asus eee PC in it (see link below.) With a Sammy, there’s no room for the mouse and other accessories to sit where they’re shown in that one pic. But there’s plenty of room in the other compartment, which is where they’d need to be anyway if you’re using this bag at airport security.
It’s also small enough to easily fit the whole bag into a larger bag if need be.

[/quote1230018817]So I decided to hunt through stores in my area and only one I could find was the small laptop bag in all black for 80, you definitely got lucky with the price and the color. What is the name of the store? If there is one somewhat close I guess I’ll try going there.

Ungureanub, I bought the Stm Small Alley and love it. It has quality material, and pockets for all my accessories, for $30 U.S.According to their website, these are the locations to buy it from in Germany:
ARKTIS Software GmbH Gordenhegge 8,D-48720 Rosendahl Germany +49 761 20 23 447
Distribution – Computers Unlimited Immentalstrasse 1 79104 Freiburg Germany +49 761 20 23 447
Or, you can buy it online through the Apple Store Europe or eXpansys.
Good luck, and enjoy your new purchases!
[/quote1230027770]Hi,
Thanks Vanessa! I’ve found this bag in Appel Store Deutschland for 55€ (without shipping). It seems exactly what I am looking for, I think I will buy it.
Thanks again!

MemberHi
i bought a Case logic laptop sleeve 7 to 10″ for ultra portable laptop model LNE010 for £17.36 exc postage from http://www.morgan111morgan.com/accessories-125/pc-laptop-131/index-5.html
Fits the NC10 really well and has external pocket for charger etc. Carry handles are good but also fold flat against sides.
Currenlty showing as out of stock though – sorry!December 23, 2008 at 12:46 pm #169480vanessa197676
MemberNo problem, enjoy it. It’s more of a dark gray/almost black than the light gray it looks like in the photos, which I think makes it even better.

MemberI’ve just been travelling for the first ime with my new Brenthaven Sling.
It’s designed for laptops up to 13″ so the NC10 has a bit of space to move in, but it wasn’t a problem. I have the NC10 in a neoprene sleeve as well, just to be sure!
Lots of space for the charger, mouse, earphones etc. mobile phone pouch in strap and room for docunemts etc. if required but still a nice compact design.
Great padding on the bag and strap and it sits very comfortably with easy adjustment of the shoulder strap.Very strong material and solid construction.
I’d highly recommend this for anyone looking for this style of bag.
[Edit] Fixed link – hopefully!

This morning I found the following TSA approved Netbook case and I’m really tempted! Anyone seen or tried this yet?

It’s available at Amazon for $35.

[/quote1230072581]I saw this and read the sole buyer review. Apparently this bag is just barely bigger than the netbook. The pockets are just under 11″, so standard US documents (8.5″ x 11″) are too large to fit in it.
When I am travelling on business (and therefore have use for a TSA bag) I’m generally carrying more on my person (rather than risk them to the tender mercies of baggage handling) than during a normal commute. I need a larger bag than this appears to be. Oh well, I was tempted.

[/quote1230077186]That’s a nifty little bag there. I’ve got just a couple of quibbles with it though, one of which is the same problem I have with a lot of laptop bags. To me, it screams “laptop enclosed” which is why I went with a PDVD sporty bag which I believe no one would guess that there’s a small lappie in it. Also, the bag I have has a strap around my Sammy, so even when I open the bag at airport security and lay it flat, it can’t spill out. Just a little added security.
