Thanks a lot for the picture, navanman. It looks a lot nicer there than in the pictures on e-bay. I’m definitely ordering that one now! Bargain.
December 8, 2008 at 11:32 pm #169323dougpMemberI just picked that one up today from MicroCenter, lol. I’m not entirely happy with it because I was hoping to be able to carry around my external DVD in the outside pocket, but it makes it bulky – if I could carry my power cable + external DVD, I wouldn’t care about bulky but with just one – it’s too thick.

I got the laptop bag mentioned above from eBay. For £6 you can’t go wrong. Nice fit and 2 side pockets on the front.
[MOD EDIT] Fixed pic size. adatay92
[/quote1228803111]That bag looks just like the one off of DealExtreme.
On the inside of the bag, does it have the little flap of neoprene that covers the laptop from the zipper?

December 9, 2008 at 3:39 pm #169391PugriderMemberA new entry into the sleeve sweepstakes, and a winner as far as I am concerned. It is the Timbuk2classic laptop sleeve. The smallest they make is for a 12″, but this leaves room for putting your power in the Samsung bag and putting it on the bottom of the case. The reason I bought this one is it has ballistic fabric on the outside, which means nothing is going to puncture it and it can absorb the blow. The inside is lined with corduroy to keep your Sammy nice and warm.
Here is my best tip yet for US buyers – look at TJ Max and Marshals for a sleeve. There is a Micro Center downstairs from the TJ Max, and the same NY Built, Targus and other sleeves were selling for $39.99 upstairs and $12.99 downstairs. I bought the Timbuk2 bag for $12.99, and it is on sale from the website for $14 plus shipping. I have written Timbuk2 to see if they will make a 10″ sleeve, and i will post what I hear back.

December 10, 2008 at 12:14 am #169392PugriderMemberFYI, what I heard back from Timbuk2:
Hi James,
I totally hear you! Quite a few people have been calling in looking for extra small laptop sleeves lately. I’ve forwarded your request on to our product development department. We don’t have anything similar coming up soon, but hopefully we’ll add an extra small sleeve to our repertoire soon. Customers have told us that our Eula tote is perfect for carrying the new super small laptops: http://www.timbuk2.com/tb2/products/bagbuilder/custom-eula
Thanks so much for the suggestion!
Best,
Megan

December 10, 2008 at 12:30 am #169393PugriderMemberI went ahead and ordered one of these as well from LL Bean. The price is right, and will likely fit better in the side bag I take to work. Plus, the navy color matches my NC10…
The Timbuk2 is great protection, but it is a little on the big side for daily use in my usual bag. What I like about both these sleeves is that they have an outer protective layer over the foam padding. My concern with the neoprene sleeves is that something could pierce them and scratch the netbook.
Touring Laptop Insert
Filled with thick foam to safely cushion your laptop from knocks and bumps. Shell is made of durable mini-ripstop polyester and has exterior pockets to store discs and cords. Fits in large-size Travel Touring Bag, as well as most briefcases. Imported.
11½”H x 13½”W x 1¾”D. 6 oz.December 10, 2008 at 7:05 am #169405TiiMemberI decided to go for the dealextreme sleeve in the first post because it was cheap and wouldn’t be a big loss if it wasn’t very good. It arrived today and have to say I’m fairly pleased with the quality especially considering the cost. It’s almost the same thickness as the section I have in my laptop bag for my normal laptop. Should protect nicely from the few bumps and such while the NC10 is travelling in my handbag. Of course I can’t say anything about the fit before I actually lay my hands on my NC10, but from what’s said it should fit okishly.
December 10, 2008 at 9:08 am #169471banzai565MemberI just ordered this one from ebuyer Belkin Macbook Air Sleeve with it being a little bigger it should allow me to add in the power supply as well.
Does any body have any experience with using a Macbook Air sleeve to fit your Samsung in?
December 10, 2008 at 4:19 pm #169447hikerpaMemberI bought the Case Logic 7″-10″ Ultra Portable PC Sleeve from Buy.com
It fits the Samsung really well.
December 10, 2008 at 7:45 pm #1693492010MemberFor weeks I have been searching for a suitable bag for my NC10 & my wife walks in with a nice one this evening (bless her).
Its from Kathmandu, good quality with plenty of pockets for power supply, mouse etc, I recommend it!
Costs £18.50 & looks good in black.
Mod. edit: Link fixed.
December 11, 2008 at 5:41 pm #169473paulMemberThought I would share with you the case that I have just received which is a Wrappers Sleeve made from Codura black nylon with an orange lumo lining. It cost £18.50 which is a bit expensive for a laptop sleeve but I wanted something that would last day to day use. I went for the sleeve as I wanted something that would mostly stop it getting scratched and knocked about when in my bag which is full of other bits I carry around.
Verdict: It’s not too bad. It is quite a tight fit and when the NC10 is in there and there is about 2cm left at the top which allows you to put the flap over a bit like a pillow case. The flap is quite hard to pull over and I think I will most likely use it most of the time without this. I was expecting the padding to be a bit more to provide some protection, I don’t think it would do much to save the NC10 if I managed to drop it apart from save it from scratching. To sum up it does what I need which is to provide some protection without adding much weight.

December 11, 2008 at 8:36 pm #169374WilliamYZFMemberI bought a Caselogic HDD bag from PCWorld. NC10 fits snugly in its own padded bit, where the pictured HDD is in supplied Samsung slipcase. That side of the case also houses my slimline DVD drive. My portable HDD’s etc, all cables & mains charger go in the zippered compartment on the other side of the case. There are additional little pockets in the other side suitable for USB drives, dongles etc.
Cost was £19.99.
Suits me, there may be better but I needed something quick.
