I quite like this site, pretty cool bags made from truck tarps and airbags and stuff. There’s one for the 13” Mac which might work for the NC10, it’s maybe a little thin but the smaller width might stretch it out a bit. Also the F97 Willy also would fit. One of the neoprene skins mentioned above might also be handy for increased protection.] http://www.freitag.ch/shop/FREITAG/shop.jsfNovember 27, 2008 at 9:49 pm #169305jezMember

I’ve been using a Case Logic 10″ portable dvd player case. I got it from Staples UK for £9.91 which I thought was a bargain and it was the last one left! Its very padded my NC10 looks very safe. I’m not sure if the holding straps and headphone jacks will come in useful or not.November 28, 2008 at 11:57 pm #169411PsychNC10Member
Good thread idea.
I want to see how the sleeve is that comes with the NC10 is but I suspect I will want to replace it. I will carry it inside another bag, but I want decent protectionNovember 29, 2008 at 12:53 am #169307levelreyMember
hey samuel. i was looking at the tom bihn buzz too. it looks like a pretty good bag. the other day i did an extensive search trying to find any retailers of the bag and all it led me to was back to the tom bihn site. although i like the bag i was trying so hard to find some way to get it at a lower price. i checked ebay but no luck so as far as i can tell, the only place to get it is at the tom bihn site.
right now i’m going to hold off on getting a bag since theres not any out that fits my needs. i’m going to get a zeroshock sleeve for the nc10 and just throw it in an old backpack or something. other than shinza, i don’t know any other sites that sell zeroshock stuff. i live in the US so i don’t know of any uk sellers. there are some on ebay too. good luck on your search. i hope you find one cause they look like really good sleeves.December 1, 2008 at 3:38 am #169428December 1, 2008 at 4:01 am #169412PsychNC10Member
Def. let us know. Judging by the dimensions, you might just squeak by with it.December 1, 2008 at 7:54 pm #169346limesmoothMember
I’ve bought the Tech Air as it was down to £14.50 ish in Currys (they wanted £21 on Thursday!). Its well constructed and you can get a few other bits in it, charger, network cable, USB drive, my wireless mouse. Tried to squeeze 2 textbooks in as well but that was pushing it a bit 🙂December 1, 2008 at 11:38 pm #169361kirkukMember

Yeah Techair is deffo a great bag as can fit everything in it. Paid £14.99 for mine from pcworld but you have to reserve on line for store collection to get that price.

I was also looking at this one by MobileEdge. On the review for the 8.9″ case, the reviewer states that it has a cover for the zipper on the inside to not scratch the laptop. The pocket looks to be a decent size. Seems a good mix between size and features, but may be a little big.
I was looking at the CaseLogic PLS-9 one, but had a few concerns. It seems by the model number that it’s designed for 9″, and the specs on the website says “Form fitting neoprene material stretches to accommodate 7-10″ ultra-portable PCs (see internal dimensions below)”. The dimensions should fit, but I don’t to house my NC10 in a sausage casing either. Plus, the pocket looks minimal.
I’d like to hear some actual review from people that have either, or better similar ones.December 2, 2008 at 12:22 pm #169434Do-moreMember
I was looking around the net and it seems to me that the Tom Bihn ‘Buzz’
is the one to get, even if it is expensive ($120 in the US) and a bit larger than strictly needed for a netbook (can take up to a 15″ Macbook, so gives it more flexibility).
However, I can’t find any UK suppliers. Does anyone know where you can get this bag in the UK?
It’s a real pity the Buzz is not available on this side if the pond, with shipping charges the price is eye watering!
But I have found something similar, the Brenthaven Sling which is available from their website for £39.95 + £4.50 postage. This is the best price I can find for it so far.December 2, 2008 at 10:44 pm #169313ChirimollaMember
Here’s a thread for discussing bags, cases, hand-knitted covers and generally things to put your NC10 in.
I’m not really convinced by the slipcase my NC10 came with. Scratch proof, yes, but not exactly the best shock protection.
So I’ve splashed out on this neoprene slipcase:
At £3.70 including postage, it should be a bargain. I’ll update you when it arrives to let you know whether it fits snugly and is adequately shockproof.
did you have to pay customs duty or VAT or any other charges to ship this to the UK?
Apologies for taking so long to get back to everyone. If I’d realised university involves so much work I would never have started.
Anyway, I didn’t have to pay customs duty or VAT on the case. I’m not sure what the customs situation is with imports from Hong Kong, but customs never charge duties for items valued at less than £10.
As for the case, it fits the NC10 fine, though perhaps not quite as snugly as some would want it to. There are no zips to scratch it, and it doesn’t add more than 15 grams to the netbook’s weight. It seems to provide more protection than the flimsy case that the NC10 came with, as the material is significantly more padded, but it isn’t rigid in any way, so if you’re travelling a lot and want to keep yours really safe, you might want to try something a little more heavy duty.December 3, 2008 at 3:45 pm #169443hughsissMember
Hi, I’m new to this forum and I do not as yet have a NC10 (getting one for christmas though!!)
However, whilst I was looking for cases for my last laptop I stumbled across a great case maker from the US. They custom make cases to each laptop. The address is:
I can really vouch for the quality of the cases and service they provide. I looked on their website the other day and they don’t have an option for the NC10, but I emailed them and this was the reply:
You’d want the 21-16 for a vertical sleeve (or a 21-15 if you decide
to go with the horizontal).
If there’s anything else we can do…just let me know.
There are loads of options. You have to pay VAT on the product but trust me it is well worth it.
Just thought I’d let you know
Edit: Fixed the link for you. adatay92December 3, 2008 at 5:36 pm #169425lucynethelMember
The NC10 is a PERFECT fit!December 4, 2008 at 8:21 am #169410SlackadderMember
NIce cases from San Fran but with the shipping not cheap. Would almost be worth doing a group buy etc as the shipping is almost as much as the pesky case!!! I might order a couple – but whether to go vertical or horizontal??? Hmmm….
