I have my power setting so that after certain time of inactivity the system should go into standby or hibernation. There are 2 different set-ups for plugged in and on battery status.
However, I’ve observed that when plugged in, it never goes into standby or hibernation. I haven’t tested to see if this happens while it’s running on battery yet..
Is anybody else experiencing this?
Thanks.
Yes, several times. Sometimes the netbook will go into standby, sometimes it would just stay on forever. Really annoying. Happens with both plugged in and on battery.
Java’s SL.exe process is one of the culprits. After I disabled that one, the issue got significanty better, but is still randomly present.
The culprit is Windows XP… Search the web, there are many, many sites that discuss the problem that the computer won’t go into sleep/hib automatically. It’s not the NC10, it’s actually pretty annoying as I have several computers at home I’d like to have this happen, but I get over it 😉
Wow. My other notebooks including a netbook from another brand didn’t have this problem… I don’t know what to say. 🙁
Yeah, my former large laptop would occasionally not go to sleep when I closed the lid. Real fun when you pull it out of your very warm backpack to find it has just enough battery left to run the fans at full speed to get it down to a safe temp before shutting itself off. Hope there’s an outlet nearby. :P
I’ve got the automatic settings turned on for the NC10 but I’ve also gotten into the habit of forcing hibernation before packing it up, so the automatic ones haven’t gotten much testing.
