I just had a question about what would cause lag when you watch something that uses flash player. Youtube is fine at times but websites like firstshowing.net, the trailers i saw from there are really laggy, almost like my windows mobile phone. Would it be the ram?
also i try playing games like the mining boy game from ijji/hangame and that lags like crazy
yea so final point is, does lack of ram contribute to this?
thanks guysJanuary 16, 2009 at 9:19 pm #180125jezMemberMy guess would be no, 1gb should be enough. I get flash issues from time to time actually and I am trying to pin point what the cause is. I get a pop up box warning me that my machine is too slow to play flash movies correctly. I get it very occasionally to be honest – but it does keep occurring.
My guess so far is a virus scan issue – McAfee was going at the time I had it last. I will be removing this soon as the free trial is almost up. The other thing I noted was that it was always when power was running low and I was away from the power supply so I wonder if it has something to do with how CPU resources are allocated in power saving modes.
Maybe someone else will have a better idea…
By the way I have 2gb RAM!
January 16, 2009 at 9:43 pm #180127wuzhenninMembersee you have two gb, maybe every one should try going to watching a trailer posted on firstshowing.net and see because i read that it could be a website issue but youtube plays fine and firstshowing is a top of the line website pretty respected too
January 16, 2009 at 9:45 pm #180134ZPEMemberHmmm…I decided to keep McAfee too as it provided an all-in-one solution. However, I too get slowdowns from that AV program.
I have F Secure on my desktop which is also a resource hog so I don’t really know which AV’s the ideal one for the NC10.January 16, 2009 at 10:15 pm #180128wuzhenninMemberman i wish more people came to contribute to this issue because i was thinking of a ram upgrade but if those with 2 gbs cant run a simple trailer on firstshowing.net, wow nc20 better be good or something
i’ll be stuck with mediocre sites, crapJanuary 16, 2009 at 11:07 pm #180126AlfiharParticipantI don’t think it’s the RAM that is the issue, it’s more likely to be the processor. Flash can be pretty poor as far as the amount of processor power it requires.
I’m seeing 100% CPU usage and 300MB total RAM usage (swap was not in use), when playing one of the trailers. This is with Flash player version 10.0.15.3. It lagged a bit but was still watchable.

January 17, 2009 at 3:50 am #180131ROB2246MemberI just watched the Planet 51 trailer on firstshowing.net with absolutely no problem at all. Ran smooth .
I have 2gigs of ram installed.January 17, 2009 at 8:49 am #180133RycallMemberThis is worrying, im considering buying the NC10 today… am I going to have problems streaming all kinds of video such as BBC iPlayer?
January 17, 2009 at 12:29 pm #180132shanewhiteMemberNo BBC iPlayer is absolutely fine on the NC10, full screen is a sight to behold on the bright contrasty screen!

[/quote1232214489]here in NY. i have had a problem with flash for the last few days, so i did a search. i read that extreme cold can freeze the outside cables. Verizons are outside, attached to a house a little distance from me.
that is my line, i know because it dropped off the outside wall of that house, didn’t have wireless for a week. i noticed when the sun hits the outside cables they are warmed a little and then i don’t seem to have the problem. also youtube has been having a problem and many people are angry with them, that youtube messed every thing up when they did updates. -
