I deleted the hidden area before, but lucky, my friends has NC10 too, so, i ask him to do a full backup to DVD and give it to me to recreate the hidden area…
I didn’t do it yet, because after i read about recovery solution, even i recreate the hidden area, then i can’t do the initial restore, and my friend said that he can’t do a full backup into the hidden area( only to DVD or another hard drive).
Then i just wanna know, what is the hidden area for?(there are 6GB in it).
Its a hidden EISA partition. It has no drive letter and contains the original win xp home with vanilla factory seetings for full recovery of the NC10.
There is no easy known method to rebuild it once it got deleted. Only Method is to clone another NC10 hdd.
Transfering the image of your friend on your hard drive will make your system and his system identical so the hidden area is going to be restored.
You have to use a full restore software, not Samsung restore, to copy his hard drive into yours. Your Samsung restore can’t do that because his image is not done with YOUR samsung restore.
I know this works because I transfered an image of my sammy onto a friends sammy and he has my restore partition.
Well, that’s mean not worth to restore the hidden area?
Then I just give it up and use another backup tools..
No, Samsung restore can very well restore a backup DONE BY IT. It can’t restore backup done by Samsung restore on another computer or backup from another program. It’s worth keeping it as alternative and make your backup on external hard drive. Samsung restore will remember the locations of backup.
