I was just wondering if anyone has had the pleasure of using a 3g router yet? Do they pick up a better signal than your dongle/USB modem? Do they transmit a nice strong signal? And how would one go about keeping track of usage? Finally, are they worth their current price?
My uncle just deployed some in some offices and they sound sweet.
He hasn’t had any problems with them yet but we haven’t really spoken at length about them.
Its probably cheaper to attach a box to your current network with a dongle and use ics to send it to every other workstation though – i’d love to have one but i’m happy with my dg834g even after all these years.
Yeah, the problem is thatl none of the computers in my house remain static, they’re all laptops, lol. A cheap reliable 3g router would be awesome, or maybe if some obsolete Chinese company decided to produce a HSDPA mini PCI modem for netbooks/UMPCs… but that’s just wishful thinking…
There are 3g routers available although I’ve never used one here’s the Billion BiPAC 7402GXL – http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=7108
Also the Three UK Mobile Phone network do a 3g router package – http://threestore.three.co.uk/broadband/?id=1201
