I have noticed this on my advanced settings in my screen resolution settings is set to 256MB for my video graphics. I thought these units are 128MB for graphics? I am running windows 7 with 2GB 800Mhz RAM and 120GB OCZ SSD. The machine is running fine with a windows experience of 2.1 for aero graphics and a rating of 3.0 for gaming graphics. Is this normal?
I you are running Vista, 7 or Linux then it can use up to 256MB RAM for graphics. While XP will use up to 128MB.
So yes it’s normal.
Thanks for the info. Do you know if it is a driver issue or something else?
The difference in the maximum system RAM which can be assigned for the graphics chip could be caused by the different drivers. Though I don’t know why XP is limited to 128MB, I would have expected that it would have been the other way round.
Could be caused by the difference in the way memory is managed between XP and Vista/7.
Hi Beardy
Your ‘Advanced settings’ are identical to mine.
And my aero graphics score is 2.2 and my gaming graphics score is 3.0 – insignificant differences 🙂
