NC10 – just to clarify a bit. The OEM version is just that it’s supposed to be sold with a system, not that it’s tied to one piece of hardware. If they will sell you the oem (it states system builder only on the site) then you can install it on any hardware. Most new computers come with an OEM version of something, and I can tell you from personal experience, the keys with those machines work with any other piece of hardware. The colleges I work with all get computers with OEM keys on them, but the schools have site licensing for the in house computers, so we use those keys on other machines. They work, no problem 🙂 With hardware, oem generally means no support or ext. warranty, no additional hardware (as in a HD wouldn’t have cables and screws and such). With software, the only difference is the oem doesn’t have a pretty box…
tmchow – did you ask that in the windows 7 thread? For vista, there is a link in here somewhere for another samsung computer that has vista. In the software section of that computer it has the vista versions of all of the programs (easy display, battery, etc…) and they should all work fine. They did for me on server 2008. However, you really don’t need them, imo, as the built in controls are much better in vista then they are in xp (as they suck in xp…)
