I also think that could be the case yes. You can also try the 2012 trailer from Digital Digest – it’s an MP4 with high bitrate. It is a bit slow but no dropped frames, somewhere there is a line for what the NC10 can handle. But the interesting thing is that most 1080P-clips work without a problem!

UPDATE: Movieclips checked with Mediainfo, I cannot see bitrate for The Dark Knight clip but for others I can see it. I only downloaded these clips to test 1080P and the highest bitrate I have in any of the files is 10.1Mbps, this is a .mov file and runs smoothly at 24fps with no dropped frames (trailer for The Watchmen). I don’t have a .mkv file with that high bitrate though to test with – anyone know where to download such a clip?

I don’t have a link unfortunately, however, I have tested another high video bitrate 1080p H.264 mkv file with the same results as the previous file; stuttering and dropped frames.
It seems from our combined testing that 1080p H.264 mov files, regardless of their video bitrate, playback successfully, whereas 1080p H.264 mkv files can only be played back if they are of a low video bitrate i.e. less than 8 Mbps. This can all be done on the NC10 with the use of Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 and CoreAVC Pro 1.8.5.
MOV files
Low video bitrate = 6.5 Mbps
High video bitrate = 10.5 Mbps
MKV files
Low video bitrate = 7.2 Mbps
High video bitrate = 11.6 Mbps
