71notoutI installed Ubuntu on Sat and fixed the brightness issue using Ubuntu Tweak as advised on the Ubuntu blog linked to at the bottom of page 1 of this thread.
I rearranged my disk to create 10Gig of space for the install so I currently have 1)Recovery partition, 2)Windows C: drive, 3)Windows D: drive, 4)Ubuntu section and it all works swimmingly.
Haven’t tried recovery but the partition and data is still there!
