I have bought (finally) the LG 8x USB DVD-RW Slim White for 80 Euro (63 BP). That’s was necessary because my NC10 had a hal.dll error. Via a bootable USB (BartPE) I copied the hal.dll but that didn’t solve the problem (I tested the HD with BartPE which was fine).
I was surprised that the Samsung XP CD didn’t have a recovery console (press R) during boot from CD. So, I installed XP again and the Samsung system software from scratch. The LG USB DVD drive worked fine during install of the XP and Samsung software 😉
Unfortunately, I didn’t discover what was the cause of the hal.dll error on my NC10…
