Definitely agree that the Acer has some great features. With regard to the glossy screen, it is personal choice.
My Toshiba 17″ laptop has a glossy screen and it is beautiful. It tends to be desk bound and where it is positioned I’ve never had any issues with reflections whatsoever and the gloss does seem to make image and text much nicer to look at.
ALL OF THAT SAID (!) matte screens are much easier on the eye for long periods. I too spend a while looking at the screen for lengths of time and definitely feel that matte screens are much better for this. Actually the “glare” (not reflections) from a glossy screen are really quite tiresome!
Toshiba’s netbook entry has been heavily criticised for it’s glossy screen which is so ridiculously glossy in all the press shots at a launch, all you could see was the surrounds and not what was on the screen… perhaps it’s some weird security measure so people can’t see what you’re doing on it!?!?
Incidentally, does anyone know who’s bought a toshiba netbook?? Is it just me or are they absolutely hideous as well as being a poor specification!?!
